Education
Estelline stands strongly behind its school district, cheering on all ages of Redmen in their various academic and athletic endeavors. Estelline has available three public schools for its younger residents: Estelline Elementary, Junior High, and High School. Each staff has worked very hard to produce a successful education program for their 280+ students and the small community. The High School’s student-to-staff ratio is 12.8 and has an attendance rate of 97.1%. The average composite ACT score is currently 23.6, exceeding the national average. Upon graduation, Redmen students have local options when considering furthering their education. For example, Estelline is only 17 miles from South Dakota State University, a public college with over 10,000 students enrolled, in Brookings. The Estelline High School also has an active Alumni Association and Scholarship program for those students interested in exemplifying “sound values of the basic education provided for the students by the Estelline Independent School District.” The Association, along with the school district, can boast of their respective programs’ achievements.
