Education
Estelline stands strongly behind its school district, cheering on all ages of Redhawks in their various academic and athletic endeavors. Estelline has available three public schools for its younger residents: Estelline Elementary, Junior High, and High School. Each staff has worked very hard to produce a successful education program for their 280+ students and the small community. The High School’s student-to-staff ratio is 12.8 and has an attendance rate of 97.1%. The average composite ACT score is currently 23.6, exceeding the national average. Upon graduation, Redhawks students have local options when considering furthering their education. For example, Estelline is only 24 miles from South Dakota State University, a public college with over 10,000 students enrolled, in Brookings. The Estelline High School also has an active Alumni Association and Scholarship program for those students interested in exemplifying “sound values of the basic education provided for the students by the Estelline Independent School District.” The Association, along with the school district, can boast of their respective programs’ achievements.

Housing
The Estelline community is working hard to provide beautiful housing developments at affordable prices for present and future residents. Presently Estelline features a development in the northern section of town, appropriately named Northridge. The development, with several homes already built and lots still available for purchase, offers families and residents an ideal location for a new home, situated just north of the Estelline Schools.
